"Sunflower Bouquet" Original acrylic painting

 As with many of my sunflower pieces, I was inspired to create this for the Coppal House Farm Sunflower Festival in Lee, NH. I discovered how much I enjoyed a new process while making this piece: I toned the entire panel with a mixture of purple and brown gouache paint, then wiped away the highlights with a damp cloth. Then, I started my acrylic painting on top by adding simple color on top of the monotone base layer, and magically, all the flora came to life. A few tweaks here and there and I had one of my first flower paintings that I could be really proud of.
