"Stitched in Sunlight" Original embroidery sunflower painting

Original 4"x4" embroidery on canvas. 

Embroidery has interested me for a long time (along with many other creative endeavors outside my usual realm.) After learning about the many contemporary artists using embroidery as a form of painting- with thread- I wanted to give it a try myself. Often I allow myself to be inspired by sunflowers, due to the sunflower festival I attend as a vendor each year. I was surprised by how labor-intensive even my chunky stitches were and my respect for the medium deepened.
