From the chicken series

Scrolling Instagram one day, I saw a picture of a glorious rooster: Limpy. I asked his owner if I could please paint him, and she agreed, provided she could buy the original! (I swear, I didn't mean to solicit a pet portrait.) This is the painting that resulted. 

Limpy lived in a rooster colony in New Brunswick, Canada. His owner only housed roosters, and her sister only hens, so the two could share the eggs. Turns out, with no hens to fight over, seventeen roosters can get along just fine! Limpy was one of the best in the group, but tragically he was carried away by an owl. Rest in peace, Limpy!
