Starting with a torn page from a magazine, I painted and drew on top until I reached a level of concealed and revealed imagery that satisfied me. This process was much like the process of discovering an identity, especially in the queer community. I created this piece in response to a gallery show, called Layers of Identity, and thought specifically about how I curate what parts of myself I show to the world, which are artificial, and which are tucked away for myself alone.
