Mati (Evil Eye) Original Acrylic Painting

Acrylic on wood panel, 14" round

This painting references the iconic Evil Eye symbol, called mati, used in a number of Mediterranean cultures to ward off the misfortune brought on by a jealous gaze. I wanted to paint this symbol my own way, using shape as a boundary and layers of realistic textures from nature to form the fields of color. This is, of course, ahead of a September 2026 trip to Athens and Zakynthos, Greece.
