I live within walking distance of a lake, but sometimes on nice summer days, there are too many motorboats to kayak safely. Ten minutes away is a smaller pond in Northfield, NH that doesn't allow motorboats so as not to scare the wildlife. It takes an hour to kayak the circumference, and I've often been followed by a pair of calling loons and spotted dozens of snapping turtles. This painting is from that pond.
