"Looking Back: Owl's Head" Original Painting
"Looking Back: Owl's Head" Original Painting
Soft pastel on pastelboard, 16"x20", 2022
From the series “Human / Nature”
Owl's Head is a small town in midcoast Maine, just south of Rockland, and it boasts a popular lighthouse with a wide view of the horizon. In 2021 my family vacationed nearby, and my partner and I walked from the rental house to the lighthouse in about an hour. After all the hard work in the hot sun, we reached the lighthouse and I turned around and saw the path we'd taken and the vast ocean just past it. My "Looking Back" pieces are about turning away from the prescribed subject of beauty (in this case, the lighthouse) and instead finding it on one's own, in more places.
This piece is framed behind UV-protective glass, ensuring that it will live a long and happy life. I will contact you after purchase to arrange pickup if possible; shipping always has inherent risks with framed work so I advise you to opt for pickup if possible.
